Discuss the significance of ‘the sublime’ in relation to its key thinkers, philosophical foundations, history, and application to art practice. Assessment criteria are linked to literacy outcomes for 2nd and 3rd year students, including research, critical analysis, and preparation of formal essay writing. Students will be assessed on: i) Their understanding of the key issues and arguments presented in the texts. ii) The clarity of their own argument and written expression. iii) Their comprehension and responsiveness to the essay question. The aim of the essay is to demonstrate your understanding of the topic and the extent of your research into it. Therefore, you will be expected to source your discussion on at least 3-5 relevant books and/or journal articles (not just websites).
